In The Making
Years In The Making
It all began with 2 men and 1 horsebox trailer. From stripping the paint, the insides and laying down the floor this was only the start of many challenges along the way.
We originally decided to build our own cabinets for the inside, but it became increasingly clear that most wood is not strong as strong actual cabinets and had to purchase some instead.
For the surfaces we splashed out on wonderful 2 inch thick real oak work top. Cut to shap, sanded and varnished by hand by ourselves it was definitely one of our prouder achievements along the way.
After a few days unfortunately, the oak started to bow, creating an arched surface! To counter this, We had to pin down the surfaces which initially, made little to no difference. Another week passed however and the tighter fixing helped pull the surfaces flat again!
The final touches of any project always sheds light on little issues you don’t foresee. It took maybe 6 months longer that we initially planned chopping and changing and refitting things we thought we were already finished but we thought the extra time spent now, will make a better horsebox in the long run.
And thus the Love Shack Bar was finished and ready to roll!
